How to Use the AED Deliverable Register Generator
Upload the Master Deliverables workbook, choose a Project Category, Subcategory and Design Stage, and generate a consolidated deliverable register you can sort, search, and export.
1. Getting access
The generator is password-protected. On your first visit you will see an unlock screen — enter the access password provided by the dashboard owner.
Tip: Once unlocked, your browser remembers the session; you will not be prompted again on the same device unless you clear browser data. The password gate is a deterrent only — it is not a substitute for the network-level access control planned for the hosted site.
2. What the generator does
The Master Deliverables workbook holds a routing matrix (Project-Discipline) that maps each Category → Subcategory to the specific sub-disciplines a project needs, plus one register sheet per discipline listing every document and the design stages at which it is produced.
Given your three inputs, the generator:
- finds the matrix row for your Category + Subcategory;
- collects every sub-discipline flagged for that combination;
- opens each relevant discipline sheet and selects the documents produced at your chosen Design Stage;
- removes duplicates and presents one consolidated register.
3. Generating a register
Four steps
- Click Load workbook in the toolbar and select the Master Deliverables
.xlsx.
- Choose a Project Category. The Project Subcategory list then narrows to that category's subcategories.
- Choose a Project Subcategory and a Design Stage (Tender, Concept 30%, Preliminary 60%, Detailed 90%, or Issue for Construction).
- Click Generate register. The consolidated register appears on the right, with the chosen inputs shown in the context header above the table.
Tip: Categories and subcategories are read live from the uploaded workbook — nothing is hardcoded. Change a dropdown and click Generate register again to produce a different register; the workbook stays loaded.
4. Reading, sorting and searching
The register lists one row per deliverable with these columns:
| Column | Meaning |
| Discipline | The discipline group the document belongs to. |
| Sub-discipline | The specific sub-discipline within that group (blank for the General discipline, which has none). |
| Name Doc | The deliverable's document name. |
| Type | Document type — Report, Drawing, Model, Register, etc. |
| Design Stage | The stage you selected (constant across the register). |
- Sort — click any column header to sort ascending; click again for descending. An arrow shows the active sort.
- Search — the Search register box filters the table live across all columns. The count (e.g. 28 of 187 deliverables) updates as you type.
5. Exporting
Four export options
- Excel — a dated
.xlsx with a context header (Category, Subcategory, Design Stage, source workbook, date) followed by the register table.
- CSV — the same content as a UTF-8 CSV for import elsewhere.
- Print — opens a clean print view (respecting your current search/sort) and the browser print dialog; save to PDF from there if needed.
- Copy — copies the whole register to the clipboard as tab-separated text you can paste straight into Excel.
Tip: Excel and CSV always export the full generated register. Print reflects what you are currently viewing, so a table search narrows the printout too.
6. Understanding the warnings
After generating, a yellow note may appear above the table. These are informational — the register is still produced. Common notes:
| Note | What it means |
| Known orphan group skipped | A discipline group in the matrix (e.g. Industry/ Architecture, BIM) has no register sheet in the workbook, so its deliverables cannot be listed. |
| Unmapped group skipped | A group is flagged in the matrix but is not in the group→sheet map. If it should appear, it needs adding to the map in the site configuration. |
| Missing / bad sheet | A mapped sheet is missing, empty, or not shaped like a discipline register. |
| Missing stage column | A sheet has no column for the chosen Design Stage. |
| Missing Name Doc | A row is flagged for the stage but has no document name, so it is skipped. |
| Duplicates removed | The same document appeared more than once (same Name Doc, Discipline and Type) and was listed once. |
No matrix row. If a Category + Subcategory combination has no row in the Project-Discipline sheet, no register can be produced. Check the combination exists in the workbook.
7. Workbook requirements
The generator reads the standard Master Deliverables workbook. For a register to generate correctly the workbook must contain:
- a Project-Discipline sheet — the routing matrix, with a group header row, a sub-discipline header row, then one data row per Category + Subcategory;
- one register sheet per discipline, each with a Name Doc column, a Type column, an optional sub-discipline column, and the five Design-Stage columns.
Tip: The uploaded workbook is the source of truth — the generator adapts to whatever categories, subcategories and disciplines it contains. Minor spacing, capitalisation and line-break differences in labels are handled automatically. The only maintained lookup is the group→sheet map, needed because a few matrix group headers differ from their sheet names.
8. Default template, saved workbook & publishing
There are two separate things at play — a shared default everyone starts from, and your own working copy saved in this browser. Keeping them distinct is the key idea.
The page is never blank
On a fresh visit the generator loads a default template (the bundled Master Deliverables workbook) so you can start immediately. The loaded-file label shows · default template when you are on it.
Your workbook persists on this device
When you Load workbook, that workbook is saved in this browser, and your last Category / Subcategory / Design Stage choices are remembered too. So if you click How to Use and come back — or reload the page — your workbook and your register are restored automatically. This is per-browser working state; it is not shared with anyone else.
Tip: Loading a new workbook replaces the one saved in this browser. Use Reset to discard it and go back to the shared default.
Updating the shared default (admin — publish)
The two controls below are for whoever maintains the template. Both re-ask for the access password.
Update template / Reset
- Update template — publishes the currently-loaded workbook as the new default for everyone. Because the site is a set of static files, this is an admin publish, not an instant save: it downloads the workbook as
Deliverable_master_list.xlsx, which must then replace site/data/Deliverable_master_list.xlsx and be redeployed (WS2). Until it is deployed, other people keep seeing the previous default.
- Reset — discards the workbook saved in this browser and reloads the shipped default. Only affects your device; the shared default is untouched.
Publishing is a deploy step. The password gate is a deterrent only — it does not itself secure publishing. What actually makes a new default go live is replacing the bundled file and redeploying the site, which is controlled by the hosting account. Ask the dashboard owner if you need a new template published.
